This is a simple game where a number of players sit around a circular table and bet on their cards. A person who is the first to make a bet is said to be the active player. The rest of the players have a choice of either checking or raising.<\/p>\n
The ante, or “buy in bet”, is usually a dollar or $5. The player who makes the ante can choose to raise the bet or fold. This may be a forced bet or a blind bet. If the player raises, he or she may be counted as part of the pot chips that need to be called by other players.<\/p>\n
Some games have specific Wild Cards, which allow the players to bet with any suit. In some games, the ace is treated as the lowest card.<\/p>\n
A straight is five cards in order. A flush is five cards in the same suit. A full house is three cards of the same rank and two of a different rank. If a player’s hand contains more than one five of a kind, he or she is considered to have the best hand.<\/p>\n
